EXTRA! EXTRA!! For every $50 collected for Arthritis Society through this page, I will give $10 to the Canadian Arthritis Patient Alliance, extending your impact!**
Why am I, Sarah, who is "arthritis-free", joining Canadians coast-to-coast in the Walk to Fight Arthritis?
Because of the many memories I have of my mother Ann's daily struggles with this debilitating disease, and to honour all that she did motivated to help herself and others move beyond arthritis pain.
But I am also walking in support of my father who has gout, of my husband who has developped osteoarthritis, and of three of my friends who, like my mom, developped rhumatoid arthristis around the time they became mothers.
I walk too, for the over 4.6 million Canadians who live with arthritis of many types, including lupus, fibromyalgia and ankylosing spondilytis.
My mother founded arthritis patient support groups and became a patient advocate working with the Arthritis Society, investing a huge segment of her life in this volunteer work because she knew this was so important to those suffering with this disease.
Contributing to the Arthritis Society through this campaign is a way for you and I to support:
- the next advancement in research,
- the development of better treatments and
- the Society’s suite of pain management programs to help care for people with arthritis.
Banding together to offer support in finding best ways to cope with arthritis and move forward is essential. Through our collective generosity and caring, we are doing this.
Please make a donation today to support this important cause, which meant so much to my mom, means a lot to me and impacts the lives of so many Canadians.
Thank you so much!
N.B. To see the total funds raised by our walking team, please click on the words "Ann's Light" on the right side of this page. Everyone's generosity thus far has been FANTASTIC!! :)
**CAPA was one of the organisations founded by my mom and doing important work for the arthritis patient community. I pledge to give CAPA $10 for every chunk of $50 raised through this page, up until my personal goal of $2500 for the Arthritis Society is reached.
